The Omega Elite was originally marketed as the Vauxhall Elite in attempt to attract Senator drivers and distinguish this model from others in the Omega. The Elite was part of the original Omega line up although the model had a separate brochure. The model was initially launched with a price which was under that of the superceded Senator CD 24V. Until October 1997, the Elite was the only 3.0i Omega in the range, at this point the Omega MV6 was introduced. The Elite has undergone quite a few specification changes over its life including different alloy wheels, a specific front grille, a rear spoiler, the addition of climate control, new xenon beam headlamps and standard fitment of the Carin satellite navigation system.
